Dana Sorensen and Jono Green, co-owners at Symbiotic Training Center talk about motor control.
Motor control is our brain's ability to control joint motion and range of motion.
A trainer's job is to train athletes to develop motor control of a player's range of motion. If you train range of motion but don't increase an athlete's ability to control that range, then an athlete will have much fewer injuries. Uncontrolled range of motion can lead to severe injuries, especially in a pitcher's shoulder, elbow and wrist.
