Use this simple short hops drill from Taylor Van Zee that requires little equipment and is easily adjusted to the playing level of your team.
Purpose: To train players to handle short hops.
How it works: One at a time, infielders perform short hops toward a tossed front ball. Once they make their short hop and field the ball, they toss the ball back to the coach or tosser. Next, have the infielders perform backhands and forehands. Perform 10 reps of each fielding skill.
Requirements: Three or more players, gloves, softballs, a coach and about 10 feet of space
