Kellen Lee, Mental Performance Coach, discusses the 3 reasons why it’s important to develop a consistent rhetoric around your school’s program:
1. Beliefs manifest in behaviors: Reinforce players to contribute to the team in a positive manner. If they believe positive actions matter, they’ll implement those action.
2. The language we use reinforces beliefs: The words, cues and mantras your team uses are important to maintain the values that your program has stressed.
3. Consistent language yields consistent behavior: Surround every moment players are in practice, games and otherwise in the same type of language. Don’t leave behavior up to chance - instead, control those behaviors by establishing language.
