This drill focuses on developing a powerful softball swing. Arm extension is one of the most important mechanics in hitting. Amber Freeman shares a drill to teach proper arm extension that is a staple in her program.
In this drill, the player hits off a tee. The player stops the swing after making contact with the ball, just as the barrel of their bat is pointing towards the pitcher's mound . If the player performs the drill correctly, 1) their hands were close to their body when initiating the swing: 2) they made solid contact with the ball; and 3) their arms are straight and fully extended at the end of the rep.
This drill can be incorporated into a daily hitting regimen for developing a powerful softball swing. As Coach Freeman says, "Extension is Power"!
