How does your defense respond when the ball hits the barrel? Do they react quickly or are they flat-footed and slow to move? When it comes to fielding, there’s much to teach athletes about instincts, reaction and anticipation, says Jen McFalls. Prior to the pitch, your athletes should be assessing who the hitter is and what her strengths are. Using this knowledge, they can then move into the best position to handle the hit.
