Taylor Van Zee demonstrates a great ground ball fielding "pole drill" for improving footwork and speed in your players.
How it works:
The infielder starts to the left of a bat. First, hop to the right over the bat. As soon as the infielder hops over the bat, a tosser rolls a ground ball to the left of the bat and the infielder takes her approach and drives through the ball. She then follows with a throw. Focus on quick feet and a quick transfer from fielding the ball to making the throw. Each infielder performs 10-15 repetitions.
Requirements:
For this drill you will need a ball, glove, and a bat.
