Purpose: A great pitcher drill to work on hand flips, glove flips and conditioning before, after or during practice.
How it works: First, pitchers work on a simple hand flip. A coach simulates a bunted ball, and the pitcher approaches the bunt and throws it back to the coach. After several rounds, move on to the second progression: The glove flip. Perform three or four flips per pitcher. This quick, flexible drill combines conditioning, flip mechanics and body posturing. This drill can be done either on or off the field, and it can take anywhere from 3-10 minutes.
Requirements: Gloves, softballs and at least one pitcher. This drill can be done anywhere, either on or off the field.
