Purpose: To work on executing a drop-step, reading angles to the ball, and coming through for a grounder.
How it works: A player and coach face each other about 10 feet apart. The coach points to the right, then throws the ball in that direction. Using a drop-step, the player sprints to the designated area, reading the angle to the ball as she runs. After making the catch, she immediately runs in the opposite direction across the field to handle a ground ball from the coach. The player then throws the ball to a catcher, which ends her turn. The drill is repeated with ball angles to the left and center.
Requirements: Two or more players, a coach, balls, gloves and a field
