Understanding what kind of learners your athletes are should be the first step at the start of a new season. Effective coaching involves understanding the unique way in which each of your players learn. Some are auditory, some are visual, and some are kinesthetic. If you don't know which learning style each of your players prefer, how can you expect to be an effective coach?
Even on a team of 21 players, you will probably have to say/do the same thing 21 different ways for the message to get across. Coach Randy Schneider suggests sitting your players down on the first day of season and asking each of them what their learning style is. After this, you can tailor your practices and the way you speak based on your players' preferences. This is much more effective coaching than just saying or doing something once and expecting your players to understand it right away.
