Purpose: Learn how to program a bullpen workout for a pitcher and hit on all the important aspects of a strong performance.
How it Works: A typical bullpen workout should include several components, including:
1. Warmup
2. Drill that enforces a particular mechanic
3. A mechanics drill (practicing particular pitches that the player needs to work on, or emphasizing a particular aspect of the pitch such location, movement or velocity.
4. Performance drill that simulates a game situation
5. Conditioning to build endurance (this doesn’t have to be long.
Requirements: A pitcher, softball, glove, workout equipment (if necessary), pitching tools (chock, foot box).
