Purpose: To improve catcher reaction time while blocking.
How it works: A catcher sets up 10 feet from a wall. A coach stands behind the catcher with a ball. To begin, the coach taps the catcher to indicate the type of pitch to expect: A tap on the helmet indicates a down-the-middle throw. A tap on the right shoulder means an outside pitch. A tap on the left shoulder signals an inside pitch. The coach throws the ball at the wall to the designated location. As it rebounds, the catcher blocks and gains control of the ball. Challenge your catcher by targeting a variety of wall locations.
Requirements: One player, catcher gear, gloves, a wall, balls, a coach and 10 feet of space
