Long toss drills, where pitchers throw from behind the mound, place a hard focus on leg drive. They also promote a relaxed upper body and encourage pitchers to produce ample arm whip while driving off the mound with power.
Be cautious about progressing too far back with long toss drills, however. When the distance is too great, pitchers tend to tense up and shorten their arms, resulting in poor pitches.
