Former player and current coach Dana Sorensen goes over one of the simplest yet most important exercises a softball player can perform consistently.
That exercise is focused breathing: Taking deep, concentrated breaths is the building block to fixing all other body imbalances and muscular injuries. When you take a breath, you want to take a deep inhale and bring your ribcage up. On the exhale, deeply force all the breath out of your lungs. During the exhale, the ribcage should move down and there should be a slight rounding of the shoulders.
Practice 10 deep breaths prior to addressing any injuries or imbalances. Deep breathing is an essential part of keeping the body healthy, even if it may seem like a basic and elementary exercise.
