Keeping players healthy is a crucial part of running a successful softball program. For coach Jen McFalls, that means preventing injuries from happening in the first place.
To achieve this, she uses a "prehab" approach in her team training—during season and in the off-season. Her regimen includes strength training, change of direction drills, and conditioning work such as:
- Shoulder band drills
- Walking / lateral / reverse lunges
- Step-ups
- Split jumping squats
- Upper body / reverse rows
- Pushups
- Pullups
- Dumbbell overhead press
- Cone drills
- Timed running / interval training
Watch drill demonstrations and listen as Coach McFalls explains the benefits of each exercise. She also discusses the importance of nutrition and hydration in maintaining athlete health.
